We had tickets to go to the Provo City Center Temple open house on February 20th. We were going with Jason and Camile. We were supposed to go through the 3:15pm tour, but that did not happen. Holy people, Batman! It was like 4:15pm or so I think by the time we went through. Fortunately, my kids were pretty well-behaved. At least during all that waiting, we got to watch a fun little movie on Aunt Camile's phone....that told us we're getting another cousin! Woot!

It was fun to tell Henlie about our experiences with the old Tabernacle. I also loved the elements they were able to save and reincorporate into the new temple. Going just three days after we lost Grandpa was especially poignant as we could talk to Henlie about sealings, being a forever family, and the Plan of Salvation on a very applicable level.



Fun story in relation to this awesome teaching moment. As we were leaving the temple grounds, we were talking about how one day, Grandpa will be resurrected and will live again and the same will happen to us after we have died. It's been a little too long for me to remember the entire exchange, but Henlie said, "That's weird." haha I just told her, "Welcome to being a Mormon. We're a little weird." :) It is true, though. Compared to the rest of the world, we're a little weird. But that's okay :)


I'm so grateful for the temple and the opportunities we have to be together as families for eternity. I am grateful for a loving Savior who provided the atonement for us so we can have a means of returning to our Heavenly Father and our families again. I am so grateful for my family and the strength, support, and love they give. We truly are blessed to have so many temples around us here in Utah. Thankfully, the rest of the world continues to get more and more temples closer to them as well.  The Gospel is true and we have a Father in Heaven who loves us very, very much. Our big brother, Jesus, truly did come to earth to provide the ultimate example and offer Himself as sacrifice to atone for our sorrows, pains, afflictions, and sins. I don't partake of His gift like I should, but I know as we try to do better each day and repent when we fall, He will have grace sufficient for us all.

December 29th, Matt's cousin Trevor got married in the Salt Lake temple. The reception was held at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building. Well, being December, this also afforded us the perfect opportunity to see the lights at Temple Square.

We arrived and met up with Matt's family and headed into the reception where we enjoyed chatting with extended family and eating Mexican food :) Then we wandered outside to see the lights. The fam had to leave earlier and I don't know how much of the lights they got to see or not because they took the train up. But after we said goodbye to Grandma, we wandered around until we had seen most everything and were rather cold :)


Then we headed back to City Creek where we were parked. We got to the fountain just in time for a show, so we watched that. It was pretty neat seeing fire and water together! After the fountain show, we ran into Braden and Michelle and headed down to the parking garage with them.


I'm so glad we got to go see the lights. And it was so good to share in Trevor and Cierra's big day. We wish the best for them in their new life together as a family :)

December 23rd, our advent calendar sent us to Sip-N for some hot cocoa (and fries lol) and then down to the Payson temple to see the nativity. We didn't get out til late (for us, like 6:45pm or so) and the weather was bitter cold. We parked at the temple and quickly made our way to the nativity, snapped a few pictures, and headed home. I hope next year we can go earlier in the day because the nativity was backlit and hard to take pictures of. Also, I could go for it being warmer, too :)

On June 13th, we took a family outing to the Lima temple grounds. Depending on the route we take to church, we pass the temple on our way, but we hadn't been over to wander the grounds yet, and since we couldn't go to the Trujillo temple open house, we figured we should at least visit the Lima temple :)

I wore Andrew in the wrap again. It was proving to be very useful :) When we got there, there was a kid Matt plays soccer with handing out advertisements for an LDS store just outside the grounds. They chatted for a second and then we went in. Everyone loves my babies :) Red hair and being a baby will do that for you. We checked out all of the grounds and the little family history center they had. Henlie wanted to sit on every single bench around the temple. We also ran into a senior missionary couple from our ward on our way out, so that was fun :)










I'm glad we took the opportunity to go look at the grounds and feel some of the peace the temple brings. It also provides a good opportunity to talk to Henlie about Mommy and Daddy's temple sealing and that we can be together as a family forever :)
