August 29th, we went to Parque Mariscal Castilla... because it has a playground and is close to our house...so we always go there. (Okay, we used to sometimes go to "the swing park" too, but they've since taken out the playground.) Anyway, mostly there were a few too many pictures to include in a Little Tidbits post, so enjoy!

Climbing up the slide.
"I did it!"
Pigeons. So many pigeons.
Right above the playground.

Checking out the fun peddle boats.
She found a stick.
she also found a fun pod.
Another view of the pod.

Snuggling with Dad after her bath. :)
08 01 15 - Henlie ended up in bed with us. We were awfully cosy :)
08 01 15 - Isn't he cute?
08 01 15 - Eating popcorn with Uncle Devan :)
08 09 15 - Henlie was a little ill and she didn't want to go to nursery, so she hung out with us in Primary.
08 11 15 - Happy 8th anniversary to me and Matt. Unfortunately, with the campaign, we didn't really see each other. We didn't even celebrate later. A Facebook not was the extent of our celebration. We're officially old :)
But I took a cute photo of Andrew sleeping that day!
08 11 15 - And I got some snuggles with my Henlie :)
08 11 15 - Okay, I made dinner on our anniversary. I ordered the wrong style of potatoes on the internet. So many little ones! However, the bottom pic was the littlest potato of the bunch (or of the world, whichever :))
08 12 15 - And an amusing sleeping Andrew picture :)
08 14 15 - Listening to the World Pipe Band Championships while (a sick) Andrew takes a nap on his Mommy mattress.
From Facebook 08 14 15:
Henlie keeps going between me and Matt trying to get some cookies opened. She is nothing if not persistent.
08 14 15 - Cool car we saw on a walk.
From Facebook 08 14 15:
Andrew got another shot today. He weighs 5.17 kg or 11 lbs 6 oz and is 58 cm or 23 in long.
08 14 15 - We were so excited to try these.
It was a mistake.
They were so sad. Rather, they made me sad.
08 15 15 - Andrew watching Worlds with me.
It was fun to see a couple friends who were there performing :)
PSYCH!
What? You thought we were done? hahahahahahahaha
Well, we would have been, but there ended up being a little more to our trip. The title is a little misleading as this last bit didn't actually happen in Utah.
You see, we ended up switching airlines for the return flight. Instead of using American Airlines and LAN going through LAX, we ended up using Delta and going through Atlanta.
We made it to Atlanta just fine. In fact, it was kind of nice because we didn't have to go through security again like we did in LA. Also, Atlanta has this fun little train thing between concourses, so we even had less walking to do.
Our flight to Lima was supposed to depart at 6pm EST. However, there was a maintenance issue. They thought it would be a quick thing, so they went ahead and boarded. Since we have kids, we got to board first. (Also, I need to give a shout-out to the Delta ladies. We didn't have all of our seats together on either flight, and they managed to work things so we could sit together on the international flight.)
At first, the air conditioning wasn't working. Thankfully, they got that working, but there was another bit that wasn't working. It ended up taking a bit longer, so they halted boarding and said if anyone wanted to, they could go back to the gate waiting area while they finished up. Matt decided it was easier to stay (you had to take all of your stuff with you if you de-planed), so we hung out. Henlie ran around like a crazy person. I started watching the live action Cinderella. (Oh yeah, since there wasa wait, they turned on the in-flight entertainment system.) We chatted with one flight attendant in particular. She was super nice.
Daddy entertaining Andrew on the plane while we waited.
Eventually, they decided it was going to be even longer, so they required the rest of us who had opted to stay on the plane to collect our things and de-plane. I think I'll let my Facebook tell the next part of the story.
6:45pm:
45 minutes delayed and still waiting. Pray for the maintenance to get fixed.
7:11pm:
Going to be at least another hour. frown emoticon
8:59pm:
Three hours and counting. Last we heard, they were looking for a part.
We had clowns on our flight. His head is in that ball...
9:27pm:
In theory departure is at 10:30 now (4.5 hour delay). They're still looking for a part and they do not have a spare aircraft. Yay.
Juggling. Yes, she flew in that outfit. :)
9:47pm:
They've found a part and are installing it. Then they'll test it. Still shooting for a 10:30 departure.
Henlie finally fell asleep.
10:16pm:
We're at an 11:30 departure time. Hopefully it sticks.

11:00pm:
This just in - flight cancelled. Matt's getting a hotel voucher now.
That is right, middle of the night and they finally cancel our flight. It was not a great experience, but we bonded with some fellow plane-mates. Delta procured food for us for dinner. And they did pay for the hotel. They also provided little toiletry bags with a shirt, toothbrush and paste, deoderant, and a comb. (There may have been something else, but I don't recall now.)
Aug. 5th 10:20am:
They've booked us on a 3pm flight direct to Lima this afternoon. Hopefully all goes well and I can find some diapers for Andrew at the airport somewhere...
I was concerned about diapers for Andrew, but I ended up having enough. Poor Henlie got an eye infection our last night in Utah. I had nothing to give her for it, but fortunately, I remembered breastmilk is supposed to be great for those. Also fortunately, I am lactating haha, so I squirted her in the eye at the hotel. Turns out it really is awesome. The swelling and redness was noticeably decreased. So much so, that even Matt agreed it was helping after the first application.

Our room.
1:40pm:
So the Quality Inn they put us up in was nice and had a full breakfast. They gave us some toiletries from Delta with our vouchers. Atlanta is pretty. We had to get tickets reissued, but all it took was some waiting. TSA was so happy and nice. Atlanta also apparently is more lax on security. No one had to take off shoes or jackets, just empty keys and phones from pockets. They said they only needed stuff off if you set off the alarm. They didn't even check Henlie's sippy, although they did check the sippy of the lady behind us.
Matt let Henlie do his hair.
Our hotel voucher was at a Quality Inn. I was okay with this as I like Quality Inns. Matt was greatly impressed with the Southern hospitality. Henlie got her own queen bed and the rest of us shared another. I did have extra clothes for me and the kids. I had to sleep in my contacts, though, and that was awful. lol The hotel provided a hot breakfast, and even though Delta had no spare planes and the next day's flight to Lima was booked, they did manage to fit in a second flight for all of us, departing at 3pm. They even provided lunch for us, although I had Matt go to the food court to get some Arby's instead :)
Clockwise from left: Henlie didn't want to go get a picture with the clowns, so we improvised :),
Henlie is a little too big to be a carry-on,
Me, Henlie, and Andrew taking a covert photo with the clowns,
Daddy and Henlie were tired and face-planted in their travel pillows,
Henlie fell asleep on the plane,

While it wasn't ideal, flying out earlier in the day was nice, and we got to see a small snippet of Atlanta. We finally made it back to Lima that night. Only other downside was Matt's extra day to recuperate from travelling before his work campaign was gone :(
11:36pm:
We've made it home smile emoticon
Sunday, Aug. 2nd, was Matt's dad's birthday. We celebrated with extended family and some yummy cake.
These three car seats used to carry Charlie, Henlie, and Christopher.
Now they carry Danica, Andrew, and Zachary :)
Clockwise from top: Henlie and Charlie were pretending to eat cupcakes while they waited for the real cake,

Janelle holding Andrew,
Charlie holding Andrew's hand. She informed me that he liked her :)
Clockwise from top left: Roxanne holding Zachary, Great Grandma Jean Ann holding Andrew,

We took the opportunity to take an updated family photo since there are not currently any new babies on the way or pending marriages. And, you know, for a second we're all in the same country again :)
Back L-R: Jennifer, Michelle, Devan, Jason, Christopher, Curtis, Matt
Middle L-R: Kayla, Camile, Charlie, Zachary, Jackie, Andrew, Me
Front L-R: McKade, Henlie, Carrie, Larry, Danica
Sophie, Andrew, and Sarah.
I love how Andrew's just looking at the camera in the picture on the left :)
Since it was Monday, the temple was closed. We had to be content with pictures from outside the fence.
I had to include the bottom one. I think Henlie and Andrew sort of have the same expression lol
Headed to the airport!
Andrew holding Mommy's hand.
And then napping.
Ciao, Utah!
Saturday, August 1st, we had a Harry Potter party. Harry turned 35 on July 31st, so we threw him a birthday party. However, the 1st was a better date for everyone :)
Henlie helping Kayla make Harry's birthday cake.
We had lots of prep to do. Kudos to Kayla for doing most of it :) She made chocolate frogs, most of their boxes, shepherd's pie, and a cake. Plus, bought other candy and supplies. She printed the signs for the food and the house banners.
Man, Kayla, I didn't realize just how much work you did for this party idea of mine until just now. You rock!
When we got to Mom's house, we were greeted by some more awesome decor. The fat lady required a password to get in. Dobby was collecting socks. There were book quotes all over. Even the Ministry of Magic entrance :)
Our goal wasn't to have like a Harry Potter themed kid's birthday party. We wanted this to be a little more adult as we are nearly all adults :) and we were throwing a party for a 35 year old man (never mind that he's a fictional 35 year old man).
How fun it was to have Jackie and Curtis come down from Plain City, too! And we got to meet little Zachary!
Little guy came 5 weeks early. I'm sure it was so he'd be able to meet us before his family moves to Korea.
Right? ;)
We attempted watching a movie. We made it partway through #3. (Yes, we started with #3...) We ended up just hanging out outside. And then we decided since we got stuff to attempt Quidditch, we should do that.
It was a sad little game that only lasted a few minutes. Mostly Henlie and McKade beat on each other with pool noodles and Christopher tried to hit balls with his. It was kind of entertaining to watch, though :)
Grandpa had to get the horse out, though, since Henlie and Christopher were there. They had a grand time riding Jewel.
Only Kayla and I really dressed the part. In fairness, it was kind of warm to be wearing cloaks :)
Grandma and Grandpa bought a new slide for an alternative method of getting off the deck.
Everyone had to try it out :)
So mostly our party was an excuse to hang out, but we had lots of fun and got to have fun with the decor and food around our theme. Happy 35th, Harry!
Don't worry, our trip isn't over yet!
