Saturday, August 1st, we had a Harry Potter party. Harry turned 35 on July 31st, so we threw him a birthday party. However, the 1st was a better date for everyone :)

We had lots of prep to do. Kudos to Kayla for doing most of it :) She made chocolate frogs, most of their boxes, shepherd's pie, and a cake. Plus, bought other candy and supplies. She printed the signs for the food and the house banners.
Man, Kayla, I didn't realize just how much work you did for this party idea of mine until just now. You rock!
When we got to Mom's house, we were greeted by some more awesome decor. The fat lady required a password to get in. Dobby was collecting socks. There were book quotes all over. Even the Ministry of Magic entrance :)
Our goal wasn't to have like a Harry Potter themed kid's birthday party. We wanted this to be a little more adult as we are nearly all adults :) and we were throwing a party for a 35 year old man (never mind that he's a fictional 35 year old man).
How fun it was to have Jackie and Curtis come down from Plain City, too! And we got to meet little Zachary!
Little guy came 5 weeks early. I'm sure it was so he'd be able to meet us before his family moves to Korea.
Right? ;)
We attempted watching a movie. We made it partway through #3. (Yes, we started with #3...) We ended up just hanging out outside. And then we decided since we got stuff to attempt Quidditch, we should do that.
It was a sad little game that only lasted a few minutes. Mostly Henlie and McKade beat on each other with pool noodles and Christopher tried to hit balls with his. It was kind of entertaining to watch, though :)
Grandpa had to get the horse out, though, since Henlie and Christopher were there. They had a grand time riding Jewel.
Only Kayla and I really dressed the part. In fairness, it was kind of warm to be wearing cloaks :)
Grandma and Grandpa bought a new slide for an alternative method of getting off the deck.
Everyone had to try it out :)
So mostly our party was an excuse to hang out, but we had lots of fun and got to have fun with the decor and food around our theme. Happy 35th, Harry!
Don't worry, our trip isn't over yet!
