Family camp was the week of the 24th this year. We finally actually camped last year, staying just one night. This year, I got brave and said, "Let's stay two nights!" So we camped Thursday through Saturday. But that wasn't all! Matt was home Tuesday and I don't work Tuesdays, so we headed up the canyon to visit the family already there. Unfortunately for us, they took off on a 4-wheeler ride. With John and Larry, that is an all-day event. They went to Salamander Ponds....and we had no clue where that was, so we hung around for awhile. Finally, as we were deciding we should just head home, the crew arrived. We chatted for about 30 minutes before we had to go home to put Henlie to bed.
Henlie found some abandoned cars to entertain herself while we waited for everyone to get back from the ponds.
Thursday, July 24th, is Pioneer Day in Utah. It is also the ONE day a year people congregate at my Grandparents Erdmann's house. So, we went and got some lunch and hung out for a little while. Then it was off to hone to finish packing and drive up the canyon! (So, I didn't take any pictures at the Erdmann's...)
We picked a spot for our tent and got it set up. I spent awhile making it "home." Huge shout-out to Jason and Camile for letting us borrow their cots since they weren't camping this year. Also, they left Charlie's bike up the canyon when they came Wednesday. It was great. All of the kids loved playing on it!
We spent the rest of the day chatting and playing. After dinner, we had family home evening, complete with skits, music, and a lesson from Grandpa Hadfield. Then it was time for bed. Henlie didn't do so hot. She woke up in the middle of the night and could not be consoled. She and I ended up walking around outside - in the dark - for awhile. She finally fell asleep again, and I could go back inside and put her to bed.
