We are so lucky to have the technology we do. There is no way I could have ever moved to a foreign country without it. Google Translate, Skype, WhatsApp, and Google Hangouts are life savers, not to mention Facebook. I'm not going to lie, I was sad we weren't going to be in Utah for our hometown temple dedication. However, the church is awesome and broadcast the cultural celebration on June 6th on the internet so we could participate just a little in the festivities. Matt even got a cable so we could hook the laptop to the TV to watch it :)
So...apparently it rained. Like a lot. The cultural celebration was delayed like an hour. Matt's family was there (Jennifer and McKade were participating, along with a whole lot of other people :)), so Matt was WhatsApping Devan to get updates on the situation. Fortunately, the rain stopped, the skies cleared, and the show went on.
It amuses me how the Apostles are like celebrities. Typically reverence dictates quiet stillness on the occasions the rest of the church gets to interact with them, but not so in a football arena for a cultural celebration :) Lots of clapping and whooping and hollering. President Eyring was so cute just grinning at the crowd :)
Watching each of the cities in the temple district get announced with pictures of the area and kids performing made me super homesick. It was fun to see so many people working together to put on their performances, though. Best part was seeing a lot of my pipe band friends perform. As I mentioned to Susan when she was looking for pipers - playing for the temple dedication would have been enough for me to actually pull out my pipes and start playing again :)
Even though we couldn't be there for the dedication, it's super exciting that our Payson temple is done and we will be able to attend the temple less than 5 minutes from our house when we move home.
