Huaca Huallamarca, Mexican food, and Parque El Olivar

On Saturday, Dec. 27th, we decided to visit Huaca Huallamarca, which is like 2 blocks from our house. I felt so touristy. It was like S/.5 for each of us, and Henlie was free, so super cheap. They have a little museum and then you can walk up and around the huaca. I am so out of shape lol. Definitely not doing Machu Picchu any time soon. :) We also got to see our first Peruvian hairless dog in person.

We left around 12:30pm, and we decided to check out the Mexican restaurant that is near Matt's work since we were sort of down that way already. We weren't quite sure which street it was on, but a traffic cop pointed us in the right direction. It was pretty good and a decent price for 3 meals. My burrito was not a burrito, more of a tostada, but it was still yummy. Henlie learned she likes guacamole, and we chatted with the proprietor, a lady from Mexico. We learned Cholula sauce does not exist here, but Matt did find a chipotle sauce that he thought was tasty. Unfortunately, finding import things is rather hit and miss.

On the way to the restaurant, I had to take a picture. I call these "pipe cleaner ferns."

After lunch, we decided to walk down to Parque El Olivar and see the fishies in the north koi pond because it was literally like another block down to the park is all. Then, Matt decided we needed to do more walking, so we walked down to the big pond to look at the ducks. We also got to see a heron :) And then, it was time to walk home. It was a fun little outting, and boy, do I miss Mexican food :)
